  • Summary of Padum - Lamayuru Trek

    Unlike trekking in Kashmir, the trekking in Ladakh involves a lot of journey and comprises a significant number of days. The trek from Padum to Lamayuru via Singge La is one such lengthy trek . The long walking through the passes and valleys in the trek doesn’t seem physically taxing and the memory of this long trek stays in a trekker’s mind for a long period of time in future. The trek from Padum to Lamayuru via Singge La is a wonderful one and the region of Padum has a historical importance. The Buddhist kingdom in Zanskar region comprises of two prime valleys; Stod valley located in the northwest and Tsarap valley located at the southeast. The valley at the south east converges to Padam from where this trek starts of.

    Lovely high meadow camp sites and dry desert land, high passes and snow-capped peaks stunning scenery, Buddhist monasteries and picturesque villages with their irrigated fields of barley and potatoes, and fascinating encounters with the Zanskari people turn a trek in this area into an unforgettable experience.
     

  • Complete Daywise Itinerary

    Day 01: Arrive Delhi
    Met upon arrival at Delhi airport by our company representative and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.
    Overnight: Hotel.

    Day 02: Delhi - Leh (3500m) by plane.
    Early morning transfer to Delhi airport to board the flight to Leh. Arrive Leh and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day free to relax and acclimatization to the height of Leh.
    Overnight: Hotel.

    Day 03: Leh Visit
    A whole day at leisure in Leh. You can visit some of the most famous and oldest monasteries of Ladakh (15th and 17th century), Thiksey, Shey and Hemis monasteries and take a walk to the colourful bazaar.

    Day 04: Leh - Kargil (3700 m / 229 km)
    After Breakfast drive to Kargil, Kargil mainly serves as an ideal base station for adventure activities like trekking, mountaineering, camping, river rafting etc. In high Himalayan Valleys. It is also a base for taking shorter excursions to Mulbek where the chief attraction is a 9-m high rock sculpture depicting the future Buddha. Kargil also offers some interesting walks along the river bank and up the hillside. The best among these is the one leading to Goma Kargil along a 2-km long winding road which, passing through some of the most picturesque parts of the town, presents breathtaking views of the mountain stream.

    Day 05: Kargil - Padum (3600 m/ 240 Km)
    Early Morning leave for 9 Hrs Drive to Padum (Zanskar) where you can Have Magnificent View of Nun Kun & Dran Drung Glacier. And Enroute, Rangdum, Pentse la Pass. Reach Padum by Evening. O/N Padum. Padum(3505 m) is the present day administrative
    headquarters of the region. With a population of nearly 1500, Padum can be described as the most populous settlement of Zanskar, otherwise a very scarcely inhabited valley.
    Overnight: Camp / Lodge

    Day 06: Padum - Karsha (3600m) in 3h.
    A pleasant walk through fields. On the way we will visit Pepiting monastery and the Karsha Gompa--one of the most important in Zanskar and dating back to the 15th century. We have beautiful panoramic vistas of the full Himalayan range.
    Overnight: Tents

    Day 07: Karsha - Pishu (3470m) in 5h.
    In the morning after breakfast we will start trekking to Pishu (3470M) by covering approximately 13 kms in 4-5 hrs along the river Zanskar. Arrive there and stay overnight: Tents

    Day 08: Pishu - Hanumil (3380m) in 5h.
    In the morning after breakfast we will start trekking to reach Hanumil (3380 M) by covering approximately 14 kms in 4-5 hrs through Pidmu after continuing to the left bank of the river Zanskar. Its easy-going walk along the right bank of the river takes us to Rinam village. We continue to the tiny hamlet of Hanumil.

    Day 09: Hanumil - Purfi La (3950m) - Snertse (3850m) in 6h.
    In the morning after breakfast start trekking to reach Snertse (3850 M/15 kms) after crossing a steep and difficult climb to the pass, Purfila (3950 M). From the pass it is a steep descent upon Omachu river and from there it is about 1 km climb up to a wonderful location. Today the campsite is at Snertse.

    Day 10: Snerstse - Hanuma La (4950m) - Lingshet (4000m) in 6h.
    After a steep climb we reach the Purfi La pass, from where the panorama towards the Ladakhi and Zanskari ranges is quite impressive. Visit of Lingshet monastery.

    Day 11: Lingshet - Camp before Singue La (4550m), in 6h.
    We start a long and gradual ascent to the Netuke La pass (4280m), where we have a wonderful view towards the Nierag valley. The trail then descends shortly to reach Skimpata and Gongma villages, then climbs steeply to reach the second pass, Khyupa La (4300m).

    Early morning after breakfast start climbing up the Singue la Pass (5050 M) whicDay 12: Camp before Singue La - Singue La (5090m) - Photoksar (4200m) in 6h. h takes about 2 hours. Singue la means the lion's pass which is also the highest pass on this trek. First the climb is through the terminal Moraine and then through the long Glacier. The climb is not steep but the descent through the steep glaciers is a little difficult. Proceed to Photoskar village is a town of clusters of homes, green fields and a gompa above in a dark brown cut crop. Arrive for dinner & stay overnight in tents.

    Day 13: Photoksar - Sirsir La (4850m) - Hanupatta (3760m) in 6h.
    Photang valley turns into a gorge labyrinth, which forces us to make a detour via Sirsir La pass. Three shortens mark Hanupatta and its giant hundred-year-old cedar, flanked by colorful prayer flags. Overnight: Tents.

    Day 14: Hanupatta - Wanla (3250m) in 5h.
    In the morning after breakfast we start trekking (6-7 hours approx.) to reach Wanla (3645 M). We head down towards the Photang valley and climb up to the Panjila pass (3410m). We finally descend to Wanla and visit its tiny monastery. Wanla is a small town with its Maroon and white Monastery perched above the town on a knife edged ridge. Upon arrival we camp for overnight. Overnight: Tents.

    Day 15: Wanla - Lamayuru (3420m) in 4h.
    Today, morning after breakfast we start trekking (4-5 hours approx.) to reach Lamayuru (3510 M). Lamayuru Gompa is one of the most impressive and well maintained monasteries in Ladakh. Visit of the monastery at Lamayuru, which is the biggest in western Ladakh and was built in the 16th century on the site of a much older temple. The gompa is very well kept and famous for its many colourful wall paintings. Overnight: Tents.

    Day 16: Lamayuru - Leh (3500m)
    In the morning after breakfast drive to Leh. Upon arrival check in at hotel. Rest of the time free for personal activities.
    Overnight: Hotel. 

    Day 17: Leh - Delhi (Flight)
    Early morning transfer to Leh airport to board the flight to Delhi. Arrive Delhi and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.
    Overnight: Hotel.

    Day 18: Departure Delhi
    In time departure to the international airport of New Delhi to board the flight to your onward destination.
