• Summary of Wonders of South India

    The southern India tour will start after reaching by air to Chennai (Capital state of Tamil Nadu) from Visakhapatnam.  Mahabalipuram (Mamallapuram), close to Chennai, is a marvelous open - air museum with sculptural panels, caves and monolithic rathas (chariots) set along a fabulous beach with an arrow of sculptured edifices, cave temples and bas reliefs. Drive down to the coast to visit Pondicherry and The Meenakshi Temple in Madurai (Great architectural work). At the end of the trip, enter the “GOD ’s OWN COUNTRY” Kerala famous for beautiful beaches (Kovalam), Houseboat & backwater, church, wildlife and yoga meditation.

    Travelling to the Kerala famous hill station of Munnar, 1600 m above sea level, once the summer resort of the British Government in South India, we visit the Eravikulam National Park. We travel from cochin to scenic hill station of Ooty at an altitude of 2268 m. End of the tour we will visit Bangalore, the distinctively hi-tech capital to the princely city of Mysore.

    Day 01: Arrive Chennai
    Arrive Chennai - the gateway to southern India. Met and transferred to the hotel.
    Overnight: Hotel.

    Day 02: Chennai - Kanchipuram - Mahabalipuram (Mamallapuram)
    Morning sightseeing tour of Chennai including bronze gallery in the government museum (closed on Fridays and public holidays). Later drive to Mahabalipuram (127 Kms) en route visiting the golden city of Kanchipuram, one of the seven sacred cities of India famous for its temples and silk saris & weavers. Arrive and check into hotel.
    Overnight: Hotel.

    Day 03: Mahabalipuram (Mamallapuram)
    Morning visit Shore Temple which is architectural wonder created between 600 - 750 AD, Arjuna’s Penance - one of the world’s largest and finest relief carving constituting a rich and engrossing tale of Hindu mythology and the Ganesh Rathas.
    Overnight: Hotel.

    Day 04: Mahabalipuram (Mamallapuram) - Pondicherry
    Drive to Pondicherry (135 Kms/ 3-4 hrs), the former French colony. Arrive and check into hotel. After visit charming Indian coastal town.
    Overnight: Hotel.

    Day 05: Pondicherry - Chidambaram - Thanjuvar (Tanjore)
    Before drive to Thanjuvar, we will visit the Chidambaram (55 Kms/ 2 hrs) for the famous Lord Natraja’s (dancing Shiva) Temple.  Afternoon drive to Thanjuvar (117 Kms/ 3 hrs), the ancient capital of Chola kings.

    Day 06: Thanjuvar
    Full day tour in Thanjavur, which includes the visit to Brihadishwara Temple, Thanjavur palace and the museum.
    Overnight: Hotel.

    Day 07: Thanjuvar - Tiruchirappali (Trichy) - Madurai
    Drive to Madurai (207 Kms) via the historic town Tiruchirappalli (Trichy).  Arrive Madurai and check into hotel.
    Overnight: Hotel.

    Day 08: Madurai
    Madurai is one of south India’s oldest cities and famous for Sri Meenakshi Temple - a spectacular pastiche of Dravidian architecture, Tirumalai Nayak Palace - an Indo-Saracenic palace and the museum. Evening visit Madurai market. Overnight: Hotel.

    Day 09: Madurai - Thekkady (138 Kms. /3 hours)
    Today we drive to Thekkady/Periyar, on arrival check-in at hotel. Thekkady is a pleasant heaven on earth for those who love nature in its wild manifestations. Spices are found in abundance in Periyar. Get ready for a spice tour to view the plantations of a wide variety of spices like cardamom, pepper, tea, coffee, cloves, ginger, turmeric, cumin seed, etc.

    Day 10: Thekkady -  Kumarakom (120 Kms. /3 hours)
    Visit the Periyar National Park - One of the finest sanctuaries in the country. Key fauna include elephant, tiger, panther, leopard, etc. This is the only sanctuary in India where you can have the unique experience of viewing the wild life at close quarters from the safety of a boat. Enjoy boating at Periyar Lake. Later we drive to Kumarakom, known for backwaters, huge Vembanad Lake & famous Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary.  Upon arrival check –in to the hotel.

    Day 11: Kumarakom - Alleppey (32 Kms. / 40 Mins)
    Today morning after breakfast visit Kumarakom Bird sanctuary. Later we board the houseboat, locally called Kettuvallam, cruise around beautiful backwaters of Kumarakom to Alleppey to observe & experience the daily life of the villagers along the backwaters
    Overnight: Houseboat.

    Day 12: Alleppey - Cochin (55 Kms. /1 hour)
    After breakfast drive from Alleppey to Cochin (60 kms/ 2hrs). Arrive Cochin and check into hotel. Later visit the cochin city including Mattancherry Palace, St. Francis Church, Jewish Synagogue, Chinese Fishing nets, Fort Cochin.
    Overnight: Hotel.

    Day 13: Cochin - Ooty drive (275 Kms./ 06 hours)
    Morning travel to Ooty, Queen of hill stations & the capital of Nilgiri district.  Arrive Ooty and check into hotel. It is a very popular summer & weekend getaway for the domestic toursit.
    Overnight: Hotel.

    Day 14: Ooty
    Today morning sightseeing tour of The Ooty Deer Park is a unique wilderness situated on the fringes of the Ooty lake. It is one of the high altitude animal park in India, Doddabetta - It is highest peak in the Nilgiris and the name Doddabetta literally means 'big mountain' which is so in reality, Ooty Lake - The Ooty Lake is the pride of the Blue Hills. It is Central and strategic attraction. Return back to the hotel and overnight stay.

    Day 15: Ooty - Mysore drive (160 kms. / 03 hours)
    Morning travel to Mysore. Upon arrival, check-in to the hotel.
     Overnight: Hotel.

    Day 16: Mysore
    Morning visit Srirangapatnam, the historic capital of Tipu Sultan known for his struggle against British rule. Later we visit Darya Daulat, Maharaja Palace, the Amba Villas Palace and Chamundi Hill, Overnight: Hotel

    Day 17: Mysore - Bangalore (135 kms. / 03 hours)
    Morning travel start for Bangalore city. Upon arrival, check-in to the hotel. Later sightseeing tour of Tipu Sultan Palace, ISKCON Temple, Lal Bagh Garden & Vidhan Saudha.
    Overnight: Hotel.

    Day 16: Bangalore - Departure
    On time, transfer to Bangalore international airport to board the flight to onward journey.
